The Room Dr. Diana Saunders Built When She Decided to Lead on Her Own Terms

In this edition of The Tea, we're sharing a Tea Time conversation with Dr. Diana Saunders, clinical psychologist and founder of Blue Bell Psychology Group, the space TeaCup Entrepreneurs is proud to call home for many of our gatherings. Diana built her private practice around a belief in alignment, autonomy, meaningful connection, and creating environments where people have the support they need to thrive. Guided by Stephanie Pellish, this conversation explores what it means to build a business that reflects your values, why asking for support is an important part of growth, and how the right people and the right spaces can expand your perspective as both a business owner and a leader.

Some of the strongest businesses aren't built by chance — they're built by a woman who knew exactly what kind of environment she wanted to create, and was willing to build it herself when it didn't already exist. That's the story behind Blue Bell Psychology Group, founded by clinical psychologist Dr. Diana Saunders seven years ago.

Diana had a clear vision: a practice where every clinician operates as their own self-leader, where alignment isn't optional, and where the space itself — the room, the structure, the energy — supports people in doing their best work. So she built it.

Today, that same space is home to TeaCup Entrepreneurs' gatherings, where established women business owners come together for the kind of honest conversations that are hard to find in a typical networking room.

Building the Room Before Knowing Exactly What It Would Become

Diana opened her office and included a community/conference room without a fixed plan for how it would be used. She knew she wanted to bring people together, but didn’t know in what ways that would come to fruition.

Diana didn't wait for a fully-formed strategy before creating space with intention. She trusted that the right purpose and the right people would find their way in. Now a few years later, that's exactly what happened.

Leadership Built on Self-Leadership, Not Control

What sets Diana's practice apart is how she leads it. Every clinician at Blue Bell Psychology Group runs their own independent practice. Diana isn't managing their client load or dictating how they work, instead she's holding the space, the structure, and the alignment so each practitioner can lead their own work well.

"Helping people become their own self-leaders feels more important to me than trying to be the leader of everyone else," Diana explains.

This is a model worth learning from, whatever stage your business is at. The strongest rooms and teams are built around creating the conditions for everyone in them to operate at their own level of ownership.

For your own journey: As you build your team, your community, or your client relationships, ask yourself: am I creating space for the people around me to lead themselves well? That question is at the heart of sustainable growth.

Alignment as the Filter for Every Room She's In

Diana is deliberate about which spaces she's part of. "The alignment is very important to me," she says. "It's so important to me to work in alignment... my nervous system craves alignment very strongly."

Established business owners don't have unlimited bandwidth for rooms, partnerships, or conversations that don't match where they're actually headed. Diana's question before saying yes to anything — does this feel aligned with who I am and where I'm going? — is exactly the kind of discernment that protects a business owner's time, energy, and direction as she grows.

For your own journey: The next time an opportunity crosses your path, borrow Diana's filter. Does it align with where you actually want to go or does it just look good on paper?

Why Blue Bell Psychology Group Is the Right Room for TeaCup

TeaCup Entrepreneurs exists for women building real businesses who want better rooms, deeper conversations, and more intentional relationships as they grow. Diana's space was built around that same standard from the start, it’s a room built on trust, alignment, and conversation that actually moves a business forward.

That's what makes it the right room for TeaCup. The energy Diana has cultivated where women operate as self-leaders, show up in alignment, hold space for each other's growth, is the same energy TeaCup brings into every gathering held there. It's honest conversations among women who understand what it takes to lead a business and a life at the same time.

If you're an established business owner in the Blue Bell / Philadelphia suburbs area looking for a peer-level room — one where the conversations go beyond surface-level encouragement and into the real decisions and leadership that come with growing something real — this is a space and a community worth knowing.
